Italian side, Torino may soon have a battle on their hands to keep some of their players as clubs inside and outside Italy continue to circle for their best players. Italian defender, Alessandro Buorgiorno and Dutch defender, Perr Schuurs have been really impressive for the Granata and offers are expected to start pouring.

More Details

Especially for Buorgiorno following his recent exploit with the Italian national team, while Schuurs is out with injury. The 24-year-old slowly but surely established himself as a stalwart at the back for the Granata and he has been in good form for a couple seasons. His improvements have marked him out as one of the outstanding young Italian defenders in Serie A.

It was recently reported that Inter Milan have been following his progress and it looks like they will be rivalled by Juventus for the player. With Alex Sandro heading towards the exit door, Juventus will be looking to add a new defender to the ranks in the summer. The Bianconeri can currently count on their captain Danilo and his compatriot Gleison Bremer, while Federico Gatti is gradually sharpening his tools.

Daniele Rugani is also proving to be a reliable back-up. Yet, playing with three at the back requires additional defensive depth, especially if they want to compete at the highest level. So according to Repubblica, the Bianconeri could be looking to replicate the Bremer coup by signing his former teammate.

Buorgiorno earned additional recognition for his solid display on Monday in Italy’s goalless draw against Ukraine. He and Francesco Acerbi were both fabulous at the back, thus playing an important role in the Azzurri’s qualification for Euro 2024. This was only the defender’s second cap with the senior national team.

So according to the report, the Bianconeri are contemplating the prospect of reuniting Bremer with his old comrade at Torino. But they face several obstacles, one the player would be less inclined to joining a city rival and of course, the words of Torino president.

While it wouldn’t be the first time a footballer “betrays” his childhood club, one would think that Buongiorno would avoid this whole debacle if he were to receive an offer from another top club, preferring to make a less shocking career choice. Torino President Urbano Cairo has put the brakes on recent rumours linking the player with an exit from the club.

Speaking at the DLA Piper Sport Forum, Cairo claimed that the he has no intention of selling the 24-year-old who has come onto Inter’s radar recently. Specifically, the Nerazzurri would consider the Italian a target for the summer of 2025 to replace Acerbi who is not getting any younger.

Buongiorno being a target for Inter would not come as any great surprise due to their intentions to build a core of young Italian players in the team. But if the Nerazzurri are to sign Buongiorno, they would have to first convince Torino. And the Granata’s President has indicated that that won’t be easy. “He told me that he was happy to stay,” Cairo said of Buongiorno.

Reportedly, the 24-year-old declined an offer from Atalanta during the summer transfer window. “I told him, ‘Excellent, you can stay and we’ll have a great season together. “So there’s an agreement between us,” the Torino President explained “Therefore I’m not thinking about selling him.” He further added.

Meanwhile…

After the international break, Juventus will welcome Inter Milan to the Allianz Stadium in Turin and the Bianconeri have a host of injured players to worry about. Wingback Timothy Weah will miss out on Sunday’s Serie A clash due to a recurrence of his thigh injury.

According to a recent report, the summer signing will be absent, but report that Fabio Miretti and Weston McKennie will be fit. The 23-year-old has been out for a few weeks with a hamstring problem. He has been working to recover from his injury in time for Sunday’s match. With Inter and Juventus first and second in the table respectively, there is the air of a potential title-decider to this weekend’s match.

Therefore Massimiliano Allegri will be aiming to have as much of his squad available to him as possible. But it’s bad news for Allegri on the right flank. Weah has suffered a recurrence of the problem that he has been dealing with. There is therefore no chance of the American playing a part on Sunday, the Gazzetta reports.

Weah joined Juventus from Lille during the summer. The 23-year-old has notched ten appearances so far in Serie A. He has begun nailing down a regular spot for himself at right-wingback. But Bianconeri coach Allegri will have to do without Weah on Sunday. He joins Danilo and Mattia De Sciglio on the injured list for the Bianconeri.

Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli are also out with bans for doping and betting respectively. But there is some good news for Allegri. In midfield, where Juventus could have to cope without Manuel Locatelli, two players will return from injury.

One is Bianconeri academy product Fabio Miretti. And the other is Weah’s fellow US international, former Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie. McKennie has in fact frequently played at right-wingback in Allegri’s 3-5-2 system this season.
