Barcelona claimed an historic Spanish Super Cup championship yesterday, doing it in style against bitter rivals Real Madrid at the Jeddah Stadium in Saudi Arabia in a seven goal thriller but amidst the euphoria of the convincing win to claim their first trophy of the season, the Blaugrana set some incredible record as 11 La Masia players celebrate key moments of their career.

Despite the Catalan giant league inconsistency, the team has shown that they are solidly behind head coach Hansi Flick who replaced Xavi Hernandez in the summer, now, just after six months in the job, he has claimed his first piece of silverware with FC Barcelona after a start to the campaign that has already seen memorable wins over his former club Bayern Munich (4-1) and away at Real Madrid in La Liga (4-0).
Barcelona have now won the most Spanish Super Cup championship, 15th in the Club’s history, two more than Real Madrid and 12 more than third placed Athletic Club and Deportivo La Coruña.

The victory holds immense significance for many FC Barcelona players, marking their first title win with the club. Thirteen players, including several from the Barça Atlètic squad, experienced this triumph for the first time.
Notably, eleven of these players have La Masia roots, highlighting the continued importance of the club’s renowned youth academy. Only two players – experienced goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and center-back Iñigo Martínez – do not have a La Masia background.

They also achieved a historic feat by scoring four or more goals against Real Madrid in consecutive matches for the first time in their history. This unprecedented dominance follows their 4-0 victory at the Santiago Bernabéu just three months prior. This is only the second time in history that either club has accomplished such a feat, with Real Madrid previously achieving back-to-back victories with scores of 5-1 and 4-0 in 1963.
This match witnessed a remarkable first-half performance from Barcelona. Real Madrid had not conceded four goals in the first half of a game since 2006, a stark reminder of the Catalan side’s dominance. This echoes a similar Barcelona performance in 2006 when they scored three goals in the first half of a Clásico against Real Madrid at the Bernabéu.
For Lewandowski, Raphinha and Yamal who were on the score-sheet, this marks the second time this season that this formidable forward trio has scored in the same match, the first instance also occurring against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Manager Hans-Dieter Flick has now achieved an impressive feat, winning his first two El Clásico matches. He joins a distinguished list of coaches, including legendary figures like Pep Guardiola and Gerardo Martino, who have also accomplished this feat. With three consecutive victories to his name, Flick is now just one win away from equaling Pep Guardiola’s record-breaking start as Barcelona manager.
