Finding a pivot to serve as the center of attention for Barcelona’s midfield this summer has become their top objective. Although it is currently well known that Everton’s Amadou Onana is their top pick, the transaction appears challenging given his high price tag. Khephren Thuram from OGC Nice could be a less expensive option.

More Details

Thuram is one of the options Sporting Director Deco is keeping an eye on, according to Sport. He is out of contract in 2025, so if Nice cannot work out a new agreement with him before the summer, he may be had for less money. Although prior to the Barcelona link, he was rumored to be Real Madrid’s radar last summer, Premier League teams and Milan are also considered the most likely destinations this time.

At 190 cm, Thuram definitely meets Deco’s requirement for a more physically commanding player in front of the defense. Khephren, the 22-year-old son of Lilian Thuram, has advanced significantly in recent seasons. Didier Deschamps gave him his first France cap last week.

After being questioned about Vinicius Junior, veteran football player Dani Parejo of Villarreal became the latest player to criticize the Brazilian’s demeanor on the field.

The 34-year-old signed a contract extension earlier this week that would keep him with the Yellow Submarine until 2026. Parejo stated in an interview with Cadena SER (via Diario AS) that he was eager to continue playing in Spain and did not see many reasons to travel to Saudi Arabia.

Concerning Vinicius Junior, he was also questioned. He gave an emotional press conference prior to the game, and part of the purpose of the game was to raise awareness of the fight against racism. Nonetheless, he got into multiple fights with Spain players during the match, notably Mikel Oyarzabal, Aymeric Laporte, and Morata.

“He seems to me to be an extraordinary, spectacular player, with spectacular qualities. I have can’t imagine being in the scenario of being an important player on the best team in the world and having everyone praise me. But I think that we players have to dedicate ourselves to playing.”

“There are going to be clashes in every game. It seems that he is present in all of them, it is something to learn that he should work on. When you play for Madrid there is always a special atmosphere, they always get into it with the players, people always try to wind you up. But I have also gone to grounds there and they call me drunk or whatever, and I don’t square up to people or make gestures. That’s unnecessary. The footballer has to be above these situations. In certain behaviours, he is making a mistake” he added.
