It has been far from glamorous for Kylian Mbappe since his arrival to Real Madrid, a shadow of the player we once knew with blistering pace that can take on any defenders and single handedly influence games. In bid to turn around his misfortunes which has greatly affected the team, the French forward has reportedly held a close door meeting with the dressing room heavyweights, taking responsibility for his poor run of form.

Head coach Carlo Ancelotti who spoke to the press after the loss at San Mamés backed Mbappe to come good after two successive penalty miss in the space of a week.
“It was a difficult game, it was close, very competitive and hard-fought. When we got the equaliser, we could have focused on controlling the game but fine details have cost us. We missed the penalty, but I can’t be assessing the game on that basis because you might score, or not. Mbappé is upset, he’s disappointed but we have to keep going.”
He addressed the Frenchman’s continued responsibility saying that he will still be part of the main penalty takers going forward; “Vinicius is usually the one who has been strong from the spot for us. We have three penalty takers: Vinicius, Mbappé and Bellingham”.
This support from the team will be so helpful to Mbappé as he looks to come back to top shape ahead of the Girona game.
