La Liga Match Preview: Rayo Vallecano Vs Real Madrid

Real Madrid will be playing away to Rayo Vallecano at the Campo de Futbol Vallecas in the round 26 of La Liga action as both teams look to grab all three points with different objectives in mind. The home side, who had a great first half of the season that saw that fighting for an European place but have been in a bad form lately that has seen them fall out contention will be looking to picking up that form, with a place in European football the ultimate goal.

With a fragile 6 points lead over second place on the La Liga table and an eye on the second leg of their UEFA Champions League second leg match against PSG also in the horizon, the Los Blancos risk the possibility of getting knocked out of the UCL and also conceding grounds in the La Liga title race, a situation that would pile more pressure on the team as tye season gets towards it crucial phase.

Andoni Iraola, the coach of Rayo Vallecano has been fearless with his approach this season and he’s expected to continue with the same pattern. They play a 4-2-3-1 formation with a lone striker upfront backed up by two wingers and an attacking midfielder that acts as a link between the midfield and attack.

Real Madrid are expected to play their usual 4-3-3 formation but we may see some players coming in especially in the middle with the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos most likely to be rested, giving the likes of Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga a chance in the middle.

Players To Watch

The home side will be looking to veteran striker, Radamel Falcao for inspiration. He might not be the agile striker that he used to be but his five goals for the team this season makes him the highest goal scorer for the team alongside Spanish midfielder, Alvaro Garcia, who also has five goals to represent the biggest threat for the team. Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti will be able to unleash his attacking duo of Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr on the opposition and they both have a combined stats of 31 goals and 14 assists to place first and second on the top scorers chart respectively.

Injuries And Suspensions

M. Merquelanz will be missing for the home side through a muscle injury while I. Lopez and N. Maras are not fully fit,hence their participation is not 100% assured. For Real Madrid, they will be missing the services of David Alaba and Gareth Bale through injury.
