It’s almost a given certainty that Spanish midfielder, Marco Asensio will not be playing his football at Real Madrid next season as the player is headed for the exit door come 2023.

The player’s contract was due to expire next summer and his request for a pay rise is the reason why he won’t be getting a new contract and consequently, he continues to get less playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

In the just concluded summer transfer window, the player tried to orchestrate a move, but no club was willing to meet the €30 million fee set by the Los Blancos.
Having been forced to stay put at the Santiago Bernabeu, Asensio has been starved of game-time this season, playing sparingly every now and then as a substitute. However, he did manage to score his first goal of the season last week against RB Leipzig.
Several clubs have been linked with a move for the player, including the likes of Arsenal and AC Milan and now according to the latest reports, Real Madrid rival, Barcelona have joined the trained of interested club and will gladly wait until January before making their move.
Asensio is represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes, who has a very good relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta, hence, there won’t be much obstacles when the negotiations kicks off.
For now, it’s left to be seen how they would approach this situation if they become interested as there seems to be an unwritten agreement between the two clubs (Real Madrid and Barcelona) to not poach players from each other
The player has been left frustrated with the lack of playing time, as it could hamper his chances of going to the World Cup with Spain and would have preferred to move earlier, but he will now have to bid his time to get his wishes.

Before the signing of Antony from Ajax, the Red Devils had made an enquiry about signing Griezmann, but the player was in the second year of his two years loan move to Atletico Madrid from Barcelona.
With the current standoff between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid over the use and eventual signing of Griezmann, Barcelona may helped if the interest from Manchester United becomes real as the Blaugrana would like to recoup as much as they can from the player whom has failed to impress since making the big money move from Atletico.
