Lack Of Suitors! Chelsea Outcast Looking Likely To Stay For This Season
Written By Albert Echatah
Chelsea and England left-back Ben Chilwell is expected to stay at Stamford Bridge past the summer transfer window due to his exorbitant wage and lack of genuine interest from Premier League teams.
More Details
Due to his lack of playing time during the previous season, Chilwell is surplus to requirements, he was also excluded from Gareth Southgate’s squad list for this year’s European championship.

The 27-year-old is one of several players who, in the eyes of new manager Enzo Maresca, are surplus to requirements and are not allowed to train with Chelsea’s first squad.
Raheem Sterling, Trevoh Chalobah, Djordje Petrovic, and Carney Chukwuemeka are some of the other misfits at Stamford Bridge, while Conor Gallagher was able to sign a contract to join Atletico Madrid earlier this month.
Due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, Chilwell was reportedly made an offer to Manchester United in recent days. The Red Devils were hoping to add a left-back before the transfer deadline.
However, it’s looking more likely that the Englishman will stay at Chelsea at least until January as the Daily Mail reports that United have decided against pursuing a move for the 27-year-old.

According to the report, Chilwell’s wages, which are now set at roughly £200,000 a week will make it more difficult for the Blues to find him a suitable buyer in the next two days.
In 2020, Chilwell moved from Leicester City to Chelsea for a reported £50 million. During his first season at Stamford Bridge, Chilwell contributed to Chelsea’s Champions League victory.
He signed a new contract in April of last year that included a pay rise, and it is currently valid until the summer of 2027. Even though Chelsea have spent the most money during this summer transfer window, there are plenty of signs that the Blues are not quite finished making transfers.
