The striker’s intervention eventually played a decisive role, as his desire to remain at the club prevailed over other factors. The Argentina international should sign the contract next week following the club’s general assembly meeting on Tuesday.

This meeting will see a new president elected in addition to a new board of directors. Afterwards, the club can resume their operations as usual, and the first order of business will be finalizing Lautaro’s renewal. The 26-year-old’s deal will be valid until 2029 and should earn him €9 million per year as net wages.

However, the new contract should also include add-ons that would allow the player to pocket double figures. According to Corriere dello Sport, one of the bonuses will be directly linked to winning the Champions League.

The report talks about a lucrative incentive awaiting the Nerazzurri skipper if he manages to lead the troops towards European glory. The team came extremely close to achieving this goal last season. However, they fell just short in the final against Man City in Istanbul.

Despite their marvelous domestic campaign, the Simone Inzaghi led team failed to go far in the UCL this season, ending in the Round of 16 following dramatic shootouts against Atletico Madrid, with the World Cup winner missing his own penalty kick in that fateful match.

Perhaps, this is why Martinez will be eager to lift the coveted trophy next season, and the lucrative bonus will serve as an extra incentive. Apart from him, Nicolo Barella and Inzaghi are also expected to sign a new deal while the club will try to find an agreement with Denzel Dumfries, or sell him off in the summer.

Genoa striker Albert Gudmundsson is reportedly all in favor of a transfer to Inter, but Marko Arnautovic remains the main barrier in the way. The Nerazzurri have already acquired the services of Mehdi Taremi who will sign as a free agent in July. The Iranian will join a department that features Lautaro and Marcus Thuram.

But the club is still seeking a fourth or fifth striker capable of raising the level of the attack, according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport. In other words, Inter would like to replace Arnautovic with a new profile they deem more suitable for the role. For his part, Alexis Sanchez will leave the club once his contract expires at the end of the month.

The report reveals that Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has already made contact with Gudmundsson. The latter enjoyed a stellar campaign at Luigi Ferraris, scoring 14 goals in Serie A. The Iceland international has already said yes to the notion of joining the Italian champions this summer.

Yet, the report believes that Arnautovic’s stay is blocking the move.In a recent interview, the Austrian veteran has made it clear that he’s staying at Appiano Gentile for another season. The Nerazzurri signed the veteran from Bologna last summer. His contract with the Beneamata is valid until 2025.

As is already known, almost all Inter players are happy to stay at the club, so moving players out has become a difficult task for Marotta and his collaborators. Nevertheless, the management will be hoping for the emergence of a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League that could prompt Arnautovic to change his mind.

That is because the departure of the former West Ham man would make way for the possible arrival of Gudmundsson.
