For Lautaro, he wrote another page in the club’s history during the 2-0 away win as he struck early to put his team in front, netting his 12th goal in 12 career appearances against the Sardinian side and it was not just another decisive moment from him in this jersey.
With that goal, he now has 117 goals in Serie A for Inter, moving him into the top five scorers in the club’s league history. In doing so, he surpassed Sandro Mazzola and closed the gap on legends such as Alessandro Altobelli, István Nyers, Benito Lorenzi and Giuseppe Meazza.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, it was a huge achievement as the 28-year-old is now just 11 goals behind Altobelli at 128. Above him are Nyers on 133, Lorenzi on 138, and Meazza’s record of 197. With his contract running until 2029 and his role as the focal point of Inter’s attack secure.
As for the other goalscorer, Pio Esposito, he also got his name in the history books at just 20 years and 91 days old. The striker struck his first Serie A goal and it was a moment that capped months of hard work since joining the senior squad for the start of the 2025-26 season.
Esposito’s strike makes him the fourth youngest Italian to score for Inter in Serie A this century. Only his older brother Sebastiano Esposito, Mario Balotelli and Marco Faraoni managed it at a younger age. His older brother, Sebastiano found the net at just 17 years and 172 days.
Meanwhile, Balotelli followed at 17 years and 238 days and Faraoni at 20 years and 74 days. For Pio, the goal marks the end of a long wait, having narrowly missed promotion with Spezia last season and now in the Nerazzurri shirt, his landmark goal may be just the first of many.

In a related development, the Milan city council will vote tomorrow afternoon to decide the future of San Siro as Inter and Milan await a definitive verdict on whether the stadium and surrounding land can be sold for redevelopment or force the clubs to look elsewhere.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the majority of council members have already made their positions clear and the report claim the stance of two undecided figures is pivotal, as the council prepare to reach a verdict, which will be decided one way or another.
It went further to reveal that these are Democratic Party councillor Monica Romano and Marco Fumagalli and after now, the Milanese clubs will be unable to demolish the stadium as it will be protected by law from November. Meanwhile, three amendments are under discussion for the undecided.

They concern the introduction of a white list to prevent mafia infiltration, clarification of decontamination costs for the Parco dei Capitani and health measures for local residents. If adopted, they could push both Romano and Fumagalli to back the sale and for now, the uncertainty remains.
