Italian Serie A side, Lazio is one club to definitely watch out for ahead of the 2024-25 season as they continue to carry out changes to their team. They recently announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru on loan.

And now, they are set to follow it up with another quality addition, also on a loan deal. Lazio and Arsenal have reached an agreement over the transfer of Nuno Tavares. The Portuguese full-back is on the verge of as the Biancocelesti confirm an agreement with the Gunners. This was confirmed by Lazio’s sporting director, Angelo Mariano Fabiani in a press conference today.


“Lazio are strongly interested, and an agreement between the clubs was reached yesterday,” Fabiani said. “After that, we must find an agreement with the player and his agents. I am more than confident. For superstitious reasons, I won’t say he’s already a Lazio player, but there are high chances.”

The player returned to Arsenal after a one-year loan at Nottingham Forest, where he made 12 appearances across all competitions in 2023-24. According to Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs have already reached an agreement, on a loan deal with an obligation to buy for €7m-8m.

Furthermore, there have been confirmation that the Aquile are still in the race for Manchester United winger, Mason Greenwood, despite the recent statement by the club president, Claudio Lotito, plus the reports of an offer from French club, Olympic Marseille for the player who spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Getafe.

During the unveiling press conference of new coach Marco Baroni on Monday, Lotito said: “I had signed Greenwood last year, but the deal collapsed due to the misalignment of the two transfer windows [in Italy and England]. Now I have a name that is ten times better.”

This time, it was Fabiani, who provided the updates on Greenwood. “We were already in talks last year and we are still in contact with Manchester United,” said Fabiani. “There are tricky moves [from other clubs]. The fox eats the devil’s advice, and I am certainly not the devil.” He further added.

For now, there is no indication how the transfer will pan out, especially with the recent reports that Marseille fans have petitioned their club to abandon the deal for he England international, and should they get their wish, Lazio will definitely be in pole position for his signature.
