Cooper, 44, left Forest in December 2023. From the beginning of June, when Enzo Maresca left for Chelsea, the Foxes have been looking for a new manager.

After Leicester City were relegated in the 2022–23 season, Maresca led the team to victory in the Championship and an immediate return to the Premier League. Maresca joined Leicester in the beginning of the previous season.

“I am really excited and proud to be appointed Leicester City’s first-team manager,” said Cooper.

“This is a fantastic club with a rich history and passionate supporters. I am excited to work with such a talented squad and I’m looking forward to the challenge of achieving our shared ambitions in the Premier League.”

In addition to winning the 2017 World Cup with England’s Under-17 team, the former Forest manager spent two years leading Swansea to the 2021 Championship play-off final, where they were defeated by Brentford.

According to reports, Premier League clubs have approved the introduction of a development plan that will curb spending beginning with the 2025–2026 season.

The spending cap proposals were approved by 16 teams, and their goal is to keep the gap between the Premier League’s lower-half teams and its financial titans from growing.

Nevertheless, a report from BBC Sport claims that three teams vying for European football—Manchester United, Manchester City, and Aston Villa—are thought to have voted against the proposal.
