For one thing, the world football governing body have greatly expanded the number of teams competing. There will be 32 teams from the different confederation and this also meant an increase in the prize money for the participating teams and eventual winners.

Furthermore, rather than take place midway through the European season as has been the case in the past, the Club World Cup will happen at the end of the campaign for European teams. In the meantime, Inter have other targets for this current season.

They continue their pursuit of a treble triumph (Serie A title, Coppa Italia, and Champions League). Then right after, they will turn their attention towards the Club World Cup, but for club president, Giuseppe Marotta, he has no doubt that they want to win the trophy this summer.

This is in spite of other heavyweights like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich and even Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. Speaking at the trophy presentation, Marotta declared that it is “not by chance” that Inter have been winning trophies in recent seasons.

“It’s a reward for the professionalism that the team has shown and also those behind the scenes. We’re satisfied with it, but we also have a strong motivation to win it.” He said. “It will be an important event on a sporting level,” the Inter President said of the Club World Cup.

“It is certainly anachronistic, because it will be played between the two seasons. We’ll have to manage an unprecedented period of time,” Marotta said. “The staff and the club will have to find new levels of energy to deal with it on a psychological level.”

“Lifting this trophy would be a dream, and sometimes dreams come true.” Marotta who is also the club CEO further declared that “we have the absolute will to win. Then, a lot will depend on motivation. In Italy, we’re not winning trophies by chance,” Marotta added.

“Because we’ve earned them with work.” He further added. In a related development, Marseille winger Luis Henrique has agreed to a move to Inter this summer according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

They report that the Nerazzurri are ready to make an offer and accelerate negotiations for the Brazilian. It Is now certainly no secret that Inter are keen on the signature of the Brazilian winger, a player that they see as the perfect backup for Denzel Dumfries.

The Beneamata have been in talks with the French club to sign him for some time now and the report has now confirmed that an offer has been made as Inter want to beat the competition for Henrique’s signature for several reasons.

Bundesliga duo Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are among the 23-year-old’s admirers. Then Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest want to bring him to the Premier League, but Inter have gotten the all-clear from the player himself.

The report also has it that he has signalled his willingness to join Inter this summer and that is naturally a big step towards a deal for Inter. However, they still have some way to go in negotiations with Marseille.
