Lindsey Horan’s Header Clinches Maiden Gold Cup Title For USWNT

Record world champions, the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) pipped Brazil 1-0 in the final to emerge as winners of the maiden Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup title.

USWNT had won four out of their previous five games ahead of the final match.
Brazil on the other hand had won all their previous five games ahead of the showdown.
Lindsey Horan scored the winning goal in the first half to lift her side to the trophy at the Snapdragon Stadium, San Diego.
She headed in Emily Fox’s header in the additional minutes of the first half to win the match.
The Selecao started the match the brightest with three chances which went over the bar before the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup champions got into the game leading to the winning goal.
Midge Purge scored what should have been the second goal but it was ruled out for an offside.
It was a relief result for the USWNT after a disappointing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
