Before his historic move to MLS last July, the talismanic forward won trophies at FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. He also told ESPN that Inter Miami will be his final club in a legendary career. The GOAT was speaking to ESPN from the Argentina camp ahead of Copa América.

“Inter Miami will be the last club in my career,” the 36-year-old global icon said.

The FIFA World Cup champion and eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is committed to Inter Miami until the 2025 MLS season and has no plans to retire anytime soon.

“I am not prepared to leave soccer,” Messi said. “I enjoy playing ball.”

Messi doesn’t appear to be slowing down at all. For league-leading Inter Miami, he has 12 goals and 13 assists in 12 games this season, becoming him the fastest player in MLS history to reach 25 goal contributions.

That follows after steering Inter Miami to the team’s first trophy—the Leagues Cup—last summer.

Brazilian winger Célio Pompeu has signed a new deal with St. Louis CITY SC, the team announced on Friday

With a club option for 2027, the 24-year-old Brazilian is now signed through the 2026 MLS season.

“We are proud to see Célio’s growth through our pipeline”, sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel said in a press release. “He has grown as a professional, both on and off the field, and to reap the rewards with a new contract was something he worked really hard for. Celio continues to elevate his game each and every day and we hope that he doesn’t stop raising the bar.”
