In recent months, there has been a lot of speculation that the 44-year-old, who is currently among the most sought-after coaches in international football, may succeed Klopp at Anfield.

Ahead of Klopp’s departure from Liverpool at the end of the current campaign, the team arw currently looking for a replacement for Xabi Alonso, who was once their top managerial target but recently declared his intention to stay at Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Graham Potter was replaced as Brighton’s manager by De Zerbi in September 2022, and the club’s first-ever trip to Europe was achieved last season thanks to a sixth-place Premier League result.

The Italian is still pushing for a top-seven finish in the Premier League; the Seagulls are now sitting ninth and are just two points behind the European spots. Earlier this season, he guided the team to the final 16 of the Europa League.

De Zerbi was reportedly considered by Liverpool as their main alternative to Alonso, but Sky Sports News now says that the Brighton manager is “not their focus,” as the Reds have moved on to other prospects.

Ruben Amorim, the highly regarded head coach of Sporting Lisbon, is also attracting interest from Barcelona, and it is believed that Liverpool may think about increasing their interest in him.

Manchester United have announced that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s official 27.7% takeover of the team in exchange for a £1.3 billion agreement has now been completed.

Ratcliffe said: ‘To become co-owner of Manchester United is a great honour and comes with great responsibility.

‘This marks the completion of the transaction, but just the beginning of our journey to take Manchester United back to the top of English, European and world football, with world-class facilities for our fans. Work to achieve those objectives will accelerate from today.’
