Liverpool FC Women Appoint Gareth Taylor As New Head Coach

Liverpool FC (LFC) Women announced the appointment of Gareth Taylor as the club’s new head coach on Friday.

The 52-year-old brings extensive Barclays Women’s Super League experience and a proven record of winning silverware, having guided Manchester City to victories in the Women’s FA Cup and League Cup, as well as a narrow second-place WSL finish in 2023–24.
Taylor previously spent several years coaching in City’s men’s academy before taking charge of the women’s side in 2020.
A former striker with nearly 600 Football League appearances, 140+ goals, and 15 Wales caps, Taylor expressed his excitement about the new role:

We want LFC Women to play with a clear Liverpool identity, and Gareth shares that vision.”
Joining Taylor’s backroom staff is Chad Gribble, his former assistant at Manchester City, while Amber Whiteley, who served as interim head coach since February, will remain as an assistant coach.
Taylor has already begun working with the squad in preparation for the new season and will take charge of Saturday’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Aston Villa Women at Bodymoor Heath Training Ground.
