Several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United, Tottenham, Manchester United, and AFC Bournemouth, are currently competing to secure the signature of Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemović.

More Details

While reports of Manchester United’s interest surfaced last month following scouting missions, Sassuolo chairman Giovanni Carnevali recently confirmed that the Red Devils are indeed tracking the center-back.

However, Carnevali also took the opportunity to publicly dismiss a formal bid from Bournemouth. Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has officially declared that the club will not part with Bosnian international Tarik Muharemović during the current winter transfer window.

Despite this firm stance, rumors surrounding the 22-year-old defender continue to swirl. Reports from the UK suggest that several Premier League sides, including Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, are closely monitoring his situation.

Further reports from the Bosnian outlet Sport Sport confirm that Eddie Howe’s side, along with Tottenham, Manchester United, and Bournemouth, are all showing interest.

Focusing specifically on the Magpies, the outlet notes that Newcastle’s defensive depth has been severely tested with Fabian Schär, Dan Burn, and Jamaal Lascelles all currently unavailable due to injury. Given these fitness struggles, it is highly anticipated that Newcastle will prioritize the acquisition of a new center-back before the month is out.

Reports from Bosnia suggest that Newcastle United have made Muharemović their primary transfer objective. Despite Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali’s previous refusal to offload the player in January, the Magpies are reportedly prepared to go to great lengths to finalize a deal. Furthermore, there is a strong belief that the Italian club will be inundated with offers for the 22-year-old talent.

According to a report from Sport Sport, Newcastle United is preparing a significant push to sign Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemović. The Magpies are reportedly ready to put 50 million Bosnian Marka (approximately £22 million) on the table to secure the 22-year-old.

This aggressive valuation is intended to help Eddie Howe’s side leapfrog competition from Tottenham Hotspur and other interested clubs. While the Serie A side has been firm about keeping their star defender, the outlet suggests that an offer of this magnitude could be enough to persuade them to sanction a mid-season departure.

Given Sassuolo’s reluctance to sell mid-season, Newcastle’s strategy appears to be focused on “snatching” the player early by meeting a price point that the Italian side simply cannot ignore.
