Man City agree €43m deal for Ake

Sky Sports report that an agreement has been reached between Bournemouth and Manchester City for the transfer of 25-year old Netherlands international, Nathan Ake.

The former Chelsea player who joined Bournemouth permanently in 2017 has been one of the main players for Eddie Howe and has established himself as a very good centre back in the Premier League. Following Bournemouth’s relegation to the Championship, it was only matter of time before interested clubs made their moves and Man City seem to have won the race.

The deal is believed to be worth around €43m but it is not clear yet if personal terms have been agreed between the player and the club from Manchester.

The centre back joined Chelsea’s youth team in 2011 and was promoted to the first team in 2012. He struggled to hold down a place with the senior team, making seven league appearances in the five years that he was on their payroll. Loan moves to Reading and Watford were beneficial for his development as it was a loan move to Bournemouth in 2016 that convinced the club’s management to spend a club record £20m to secure his services permanently from Chelsea in 2017.

Since his permanent move to Bournemouth, he has gone on to make 105 Premier League appearances for the club, including twenty nine this season.
