Erling Haaland has scored 21 goals across all competitions this season, while Phil Foden is next on the list with just five goals, meaning that Man City has been mostly dependent on his goals thus far.
Since joining Frankfurt from Wolfsburg on a free transfer in 2023, Marmoush has been a star player in the Bundesliga and is rumoured to have attracted the attention of numerous elite European teams, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
In 24 games across all competitions so far this season, the Egypt international has scored 18 goals and provided 12 assists for Frankfurt. In 15 Bundesliga appearances, he has scored 13 goals and provided eight assists for a team that is presently in third place.
According to a recent source, Man City and Marmoush’s representatives have had initial discussions about a possible January transfer to the Etihad. The Daily Mail now claims that a deal is anticipated to be achieved “over the coming days” and that “informal talks” between Man City and Frankfurt are still ongoing.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Deutschland, Frankfurt CEO Markus Krosche stated on Tuesday that “there has been no contact, no call, nothing at all” from any teams for Marmoush.
The Guardian claims that Frankfurt’s pursuit of Champions League qualification will make it challenging for the Citizens to acquire the attacker this month, despite a different report from The Telegraph claiming that Man City are pushing to sign the £50 million-rated Marmoush in January.
According to reports, Man City are aware that Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmoller is committed to keeping Marmoush, whose contract expires in the summer of 2027.
