For a number of weeks, there have been rumours that United has a number of targets in mind for when the January transfer market opens. But whether or not any of that conjecture turns out to be accurate is still up in the air.
In light of this, MEN Sport evaluates some of the most recent rumours and rumours surrounding United transfers that have surfaced in the past day.
Nuno Mendes, a PSG defender, is being linked to United once more. Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Germany, claims that United is keeping an eye on Mendes’ status at PSG because his contract with the French team is still pending.
The left-back’s current contract with PSG is scheduled to expire in 2026, but the Ligue 1 powerhouses are allegedly eager to reach an extension soon. However, it has been said that Mendes is not showing any signs of signing an extension, which is why United has expressed a “strong” interest in signing the defender.

In other news, it is predicted that United will bring a former player back to Old Trafford in January. Alvaro Fernandez, a defender for Benfica, is a target for United going into the new year, according to Give Me Sport.
According to the source, United are debating whether to make an attempt to sign the left-back, who departed the team permanently only months ago.
After spending the second part of the previous season on loan with the Portuguese team, Fernandez left United last summer to sign a deal worth an initial €6 million (£5 million) to join Benfica.
