Manchester City Interested in Koulibaly
Manchester City are reportedly still active in the transfer market as they search for another central defender.
La Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that the English club are currently in advanced talks with Italian Serie A side, Napoli for the transfer of Senegalese centre back, Kalidou Koulibaly. It is believed that the Manchester club are prepared to offer the player a five-year contract with a salary believed to be in the region of €10m per annum.
Negotiations with Napoli president are not always easy but it is reported that he is prepared to allow the defender leave Napoli for at least €80m. It is still unclear if Manchester City are prepared to offer that amount but talks with the player’s agent, Fali Ramadani are going well.
Gazzetta had reported in the past that there could be a few bottlenecks as the relationship between Ramadani and Manchester City director, Txiki Begiristain isn’t so smooth after Ramadani’s decision to allow Jorginho join Chelsea in 2018 after seemingly looking close to join City at the time.
29-year old Koulibaly had claimed in a recent interview with Il Mattino that he would love to stay at Napoli for the rest of his career as his “family is doing very well in Naples” but he admitted that “if we have to find a solution (regarding interests from other clubs), we will.”
