Manchester United agree personal terms with Van De Beek

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Ajax’s Dutch midfielder, Donny Van De Beek according to multiple reports in Italy.

Fabrizio Romano of Sky Italia reports that there have been constant contact between Manchester United officials and the player’s agents which has led to an agreement on a five-year contract for the player.

Van De Beek was left out of Ajax’s friendly game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday amidst speculations that a move away from the club was imminent. Spanish giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid were front runners in the race for his signature but it would seem that Manchester United have now overtaken both clubs as they look to wrap up negotiations as soon as possible.

Nico Schira of la Gazzetta Dello Sport buttresses Sky Italia’s report, adding that Manchester United are ready to pay Ajax’s asking price in order to close the deal. Ajax are reportedly willing to part ways with the midfielder if a bid in the region of 40 million Euros is offered.

Van De Beek is an Ajax’s academy product and has gone on to make close to 200 appearances for the first team. He was a key member of the Ajax squad that defeated Real Madrid and Juventus in the knockout stages of the Champions League, helping the team to a first semifinal appearance in the competition for the first time over two decades.
