But while on loan at Aston Villa, the 27-year-old has found his best form again, and his performances in the West Midlands have given him a path back into the England team under Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel acknowledged at full time that he was disappointed with Rashford’s performance, but he was still selected on the left side for Friday’s 2-0 victory against Albania in the World Cup 2026 qualifying match.
Rashford has the opportunity to sign a permanent contract with Aston Villa this summer for £40 million, but his superb play at Villa Park has sparked speculation that Manchester United would reintegrate him into Ruben Amorim’s team.
The Red Devils will try to permanently offload Rashford, according to the Daily Star, and Amorim will not be welcoming him back into the team this summer.

Despite making a good impact in the first few weeks of his Villa stint, Rashford has only contributed four assists in nine games and has failed to score for Unai Emery’s team.
However, with only three Premier League goals apiece in the 2024–25 campaign, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee are flattering to deceive at the top of the Man United assault. Manchester United will therefore look to use the proceeds from Rashford’s sale to acquire a new, high-profile number nine, with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres still reportedly their top target.
According to the source, Man United want to up their asking price to £60 million because of Rashford’s impressive performances in a claret jersey thus far, even if Aston Villa’s option to purchase him is reportedly £40 million.
