Manchester United Have Decided What To Do With Sofyan Amrabat

Written By Onyeka Daniel

It hasn’t been a smooth transition to life in England for Moroccan midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat after he jojned English Premier League side, Manchester United in the summer as he has struggled to replicate the form that prompted the club to sign him in the first place.

More Details

He joined the Red Devils last summer on a loan deal with an option to buy for €20.5m plus €5m add-ons. Fans hit out at the former Fiorentina man and many hope he will be sent to Fiorentina at the end of the season following a poor performance against Liverpool on Sunday. The 27-year-old played 90 minutes at Anfield in a 0-0 draw against Liverpool, but his performance was far from impressive.

The Morocco International collected terrible stats against the Reds: 57% passing accuracy, one duel won from eight and possession lost 16 times. He is yet to score or assist in 17 appearances across all competitions this season and most Manchester United fans seem to have lost patience with him.

After the Liverpool game, many have vented their frustration on X, formerly Twitter, saying Amrabat should return to Fiorentina after the end of his loan spell this season. Manchester United have already paid €10m for the midfielder’s loan until June.

The emergence of young English midfielder, Kobbie Mainoo hasn’t helped either and should the 18yrs old continue with his impressive performances, the club might be less inclined towards making Amrabat’s signing a permanent deal and giving the fact that he left Fiorentina under tense conditions, it will be hard seeing him staying at the Artemis Franchi stadium next season.

But there is still time for him to convince the fans and the club management that he’s worth it. It should be recalled that he played an important role for Fiorentina last season on their way to reaching the final of the European conference League and also helped Morocco to a fourth place finish at the World Cup in Qatar.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is one of Juventus‘ targets for January and according to reports from Italy, intermediary Fabrizio De Vecchi could be a key figure in negotiations between Spurs and the Bianconeri. Juventus need midfielder reinforcements following the suspensions of Paul Pogba and Nicolò Fagioli.

So they are expected to sign at least one new player in the January transfer window. Kalvin Phillips and Teun Koopmeiners are among the top Bianconeri targets, but it is no secret that Juventus have also been following Tottenham midfielder Hojbjerg for several months.

As reported by Tuttosport, intermediary Fabrizio De Vecchi could be crucial in negotiations between the two parties as the Italian was also involved in Danilo’s transfer to Juventus from Manchester City in 2019. The Brazilian had moved to Turin in a player-swap deal with Joao Cancelo and was named Juventus’ captain last summer.

According to the report, Hojbjerg parted ways with his former agent Pini Zahavi last summer as he wanted to leave Tottenham to get regular playing time elsewhere. The Denmark International has appointed a lawyer to negotiate his possible transfer in the January transfer window and he could become an exciting option for Juventus if Spurs agree to sell the 28-year-old on a loan deal with an option to buy.
