Earlier this month, reports from The Star indicated that Juventus were prepared to sell Luiz to United for £35 million. Now, Football Insider claims that the Old Trafford club are the frontrunners to sign the midfielder from the Italian giants.
While Everton are also said to be interested in Luiz, they are reportedly only considering a loan deal. Juventus, however, is looking for a permanent transfer for the Brazilian.
Manchester United are currently leading the race to sign Douglas Luiz. They’re prepared to offer a loan-to-buy deal, which has given them an advantage in negotiations.
An additional factor benefiting is Juventus’ interest in their player, Jadon Sancho. According to Corriere dello Sport, Ruben Amorim’s team (Juventus) are reportedly willing to provide an “exit package” for Sancho.

This would allow the English star to accept a lower salary to join the Serie A club, potentially smoothing the way for Luiz’s move to Old Trafford.
Douglas Luiz, at 27, is a highly adaptable midfielder known for his ability to excel as both a deep-lying playmaker and a more advanced, creative No. 8.
He has a strong track record in English football from his time with Aston Villa, where he was directly involved in 20 goals (10 goals, 10 assists) during the 2023-24 season. Unfortunately, he wasn’t given adequate opportunities at Juventus last season, starting only six games across all competitions.
