The focus of much of the summer on the red side of Manchester was on finding enough players to support Erik ten Hag in building on his debut season in England’s EFL Cup win and Champions League qualification.

The Red Devils needed a new first-choice goalkeeper after David de Gea left Old Trafford after more than ten years, and Andre Onana came from Inter Milan for a reported £50 million.

But in the forthcoming January transfer window, focus will shift to handling several departures from Old Trafford, as per Football Insider.

According to the report, the Red Devils intend to sell six players from their first squad in the New Year in order to comply with Premier League Financial Fair Play regulations.

Man United’s board are reportedly hoping to reinvest in Ten Hag’s squad for the whole of the season by earning upwards of £80 million from player sales next month.

Along with Anthony Martial and Christian Eriksen, former Real Madrid teammates Raphael Varane and Casemiro are rumored to be among the players that could leave the Red Devils in January. Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek, the former of whom has played just two minutes of Premier league football this season, are also being prepared for moves abroad in the New Year.

Meanwhile…

Erik ten Hag is anxious to prevent Jadon Sancho from making a “empty gesture,” therefore Manchester United is apparently willing to accept a “significant loss” on him.

Sancho has a disruptive impact on the rest of United’s team, according to manager Ten Hag, who is determined to get rid of the winger.

This season, Sancho and Ten Hag had a nasty falling out, with the Dutchman publicly criticizing his player in the media for his lack of effort in practice. After spending £73 million on him in 2021, United is now willing to suffer a “significant loss” on the player in the January transfer window.
