More Details

Girona FC and FC Barcelona have finalised an agreement for the loan of Marc-André ter Stegen, with the German goalkeeper set to guard the red-and-white goal until the end of the season.

According to Radio Catalunya, the Montilivi club will assume only a minimal portion of the player’s salary, with Barcelona covering close to 90% of his wages for the duration of the loan.

Ter Stegen has also reportedly agreed to reduce part of his salary to help complete the move, though Barça will continue to bear the majority of the financial burden.

The 32-year-old remains under contract with Barcelona until 2028, and the loan deal includes a clause preventing him from facing his parent club should the two sides meet in competition.

During his time at Barcelona, Ter Stegen has made 423 official appearances and played a central role in the club’s domestic and international success.

His honours with the Blaugrana include a Champions League title, six La Liga crowns, six Copa del Rey trophies, a UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup. Consistently regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in world football, his performances have also earned him full international status with the German national team.
