The arrival of Joan García, coupled with Barcelona’s long-term plans set out by the sporting department, initially placed Marc-André ter Stegen on the verge of an exit.
However, those plans were temporarily shelved following his unfortunate back injury which kept him sidelined but still officially part of the first team and an active Barça player.
Now, though, reports from Germany suggest that the situation may be changing once again with the possibility of a transfer or loan move for the German international in the upcoming winter window no longer being dismissed.

According to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, a January transfer for Ter Stegen “is possible and cannot be excluded,” with a loan deal also reportedly under consideration. This renewed speculation comes at a crucial time for the goalkeeper as the World Cup looms next summer.
Remaining at Barcelona could limit his playing time and consequently, his chances of convincing the German national team coach that he deserves to start in goal for his country.
Given those circumstances, a move away from Camp Nou could ultimately serve as the best option for Ter Stegen both to regain consistent minutes on the pitch and to strengthen his claim for Germany’s number-one spot on the international stage.
