Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has allayed worries about Cole Palmer’s injury after the Englishman was seen limping off the pitch in their Europa Conference League victory over Swiss-based club Servette.
More Details
Palmer was one of the substitutes for Thursday’s first-leg match at Stamford Bridge, but following a dismal first half from the home team, he was among the group warming up at halftime.

After 58 minutes, Palmer was one of three substitutes, replacing Marc Guiu with Noni Madueke and Enzo Fernandez. Christopher Nkunku calmed the crowd after converting a penalty after 50 minutes. Although Fernandez gave Madueke a fantastic assist to secure a 2-0 victory, Palmer was worried at the end of the game.
Head coach Maresca contacted the England international on the touchline, and he was observed clutching his right hamstring as he left the ground and went straight into the tunnel.
Chelsea has to make a rapid turnaround because they have to travel to Wolves on Sunday. However, Maresca provided an encouraging report on Palmer following Thursday’s victory and expressed optimism that he will be ready for the trip to Molineux.
‘Cole felt something but it looks fine,’ the Chelsea boss told a post-match press conference.
‘They already checked and it looks fine so hopefully there is no problem and he can be available for Sunday’s game.’

Palmer was Chelsea’s bright spot during the club’s otherwise dismal 2023–24 season, which was his first since joining from Manchester City.
After that incredible season, the England international, who scored 27 goals for his new club, was named PFA Young Player of the Year this week.
Chelsea’s Premier League season began last Sunday with a 2-0 loss to EPL champions Manchester City, setting the stage for a turbulent week for the team.
