More Details

She received her award during the 70th BBC Sports Personality Award on Tuesday.

Earps, 30, was England’s standout player as they reached their first Women’s World Cup final in the summer and was given the Golden Glove for the best goalkeeper at the tournament.

The Fifa Best Women’s Goalkeeper played every minute of the Lionesses’ seven World Cup matches, conceding only four goals and keeping three clean sheets as well as saving a penalty in the final, which England lost 1-0 to Spain.

“Thanks for voting for me everybody that voted for me. I should probably have started with that one. Thank you very much. I am very honoured and humbled,” Earps stated after receiving the award.

"For me, I feel like this is the ultimate all-round Sporting accolade, and I think us as Lionesses and obviously, Manchester United as well we've had an incredible couple of years, but this is just, yeah wow!

"It's not been the easiest journey and I definitely wouldn't be where I am today without a number of incredible people in my corner, so finally I want to say thank you to them.

"I am so glad that I can bring some of my loved ones with me today who have been with me through the really, really not-so-great times, and the last two years have been absolutely unbelievable. I have done more than I could ever imagined and for that, I am truly incredibly grateful. Thank you very much.

"To Ian Willcock and Darren Ward who are my goalkeeper coaches, who are here tonight as well so again thank you so much to my teammates, my coaches. Wouldn't be here without you all." She concluded.
