Massimiliano Allegri Holds The Key To Rabiot’s Future As The Coach Is Slammed For His Defensive Tactics

Written By Onyeka Daniel

Despite the recent changes going on at Juventus, with many of their old guards being ushered out of the club in a bid to restructure the team, the club would like to extend their collaboration with French midfielder, Adrien Rabiot, and are actively working to get the player to renew his expiring contract.

More Details

Last week, reports emerged that the midfielder had found an agreement with the club over another one-year extension, with his contract set to expire in the summer, but the player’s mother, Veronique Rabiot, who also serves as his agent rubbished these claims yesterday.

The 28-year-old has now cemented himself as an indispensable component in Massimiliano Allegri’s starting line-up, so the club would rather not lose him for free at the end of the season with reports of an interest from Manchester United.

According to a new report, the player’s contract extension depends on a few aspects. The report stated that the two parties will resume their talks at a later stage during the season, under some certain conditions, once the club’s situation becomes clearer.

First, Rabiot would like to be certain that Juventus will indeed feature in the Champions League next season. The 2022 World Cup finalist doesn’t intend to miss out on Europe’s elite club competition for a second year in a row. Moreover, Allgeri’s fate could also play a vital role too. The midfielder shares a solid bond with the Bianconeri coach.

Therefore, if the Livorno native were to stay for another season, this would boost the club’s chances of securing Rabiot’s services on a new deal. As the source tells it, Allegri played a crucial role in convincing the Frenchman to stay at the club last season when his contract was about to expire.

But the former AC Milan manager is facing some backlashes over his style of play recently. In the latest episode of The Gab & Juls show, co-host Gabriele Marcotti argues that Juventus haven’t made any progress under the guidance of Allegri despite their improved results.

The Italian journalist feels the Bianconeri are playing with fire by choosing to defend slim leads until the final whistle, while noting that Napoli had the bulk of the chances in last Friday’s encounter. Marcotti also goes on a rant against those who defend Allegri by claiming that the squad lacks quality, labeling them as “morons”.

Meanwhile…

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz remains an option for the Bianconeri who are seeking reinforcement in January. After losing the services of Nicolo Fagioli and Paul Pogba due to suspensions, the Bianconeri have a shortage of options in the middle of the park.

In recent weeks, news reports have been linking the Italian giants with various profiles. But while the interest in Ruiz seemed to have faded recently, an emerging report claims that the Spaniard remains on the club’s shortlist. According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Juve are still considering making a move for the 27-year-old in January.

Juventus Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli was the one who brought Fabian to Napoli in 2018 before selling him to PSG in 2022. However, the midfielder hasn’t carved himself a starting berth in the French capital this season despite the appointment of his compatriot Luis Enrique.

This season, Ruiz has contributed with a goal and two assists in 16 appearances across all competitions, with the majority coming off the bench. For their part, Juventus are reflecting on the situation before deciding whether or not to launch concrete negotiations with the French champions.
