Megan Rapinoe, Kelley O’Hara, Rose Lavelle, and Alex Morgan have all missed game time due to injury or load management in recent weeks.
Lavelle hasn’t played for OL Reign since mid-April, though she is training.
Rapinoe did not play last weekend after leaving an OL Reign match with calf tightness two weeks ago.
O’Hara played 45 minutes for Gotham FC, building on a 17-minute performance the week prior.
Julie Ertz played 90 minutes for Angel City, and Alex Morgan returned for San Diego.
The USWNT is going to take players with limited fitness by necessity, as they balance youth and experience. But the question of how to manage the squad in a grueling tournament remains.
