The Spanish club is combing the market for a replacement, having now agreed to loan out two of the five forwards that began the season playing under Diego Simeone.
FC Barcelona forward Memphis has played just twice in LaLiga this season after he registered a dozen goals in his debut campaign in Catalonia.
However, Memphis’s lack of playing time hasn’t stopped Atlético from registering interest in him. Originally mentioned by SportItalia’s Gianluigi Longari, Cadena SER’s Manu Carreño was the first in Spain to report Atlético would like to acquire Memphis on loan through the end of the current season.
Fabrizio Romano added that Atleti are “confident” of convincing the 28-year-old to swap Camp Nou Spotify for the Cívitas Metropolitano.
On Thursday, MARCA’s David Medina reported the longtime Dutch international is “a step away” from swapping Barcelona for Madrid, but the league leaders want to get some money for a player they acquired on a free transfer before the start of last season.

João Félix has left Atlético Madrid to join Chelsea on a dry loan until the end of the season. Atlético and Chelsea each confirmed the deal Wednesday morning after multiple media reports indicated the agreement had been reached.
Atlético extend João’s contract by one year to 2027 to save money in the short term, and to leave open the possibility the Portuguese could yet return to the club and form part of its future.
The Daily Record was first to report that Chelsea took the lead in the race to sign João, while MARCA reported that the deal is pending only an official offer and the Athletic’s David Ornstein said the player’s will to play in west London proved decisive, even if on a temporary basis.
