The superstar forwards, who had ignited a 2-2 comeback tie in Leg 1 at GEODIS Park, were at the height of their powers in Wednesday’s 3-1 Leg 2 thumping of Nashville SC at Chase Stadium. They had an impact on the entire 5-3 aggregate victory.
The impact of the legends was evident right away, as Messi set up Suárez for a clear-cut score (8′) past Nashville goalie Joe Willis. In the twenty-third minute, Messi extended the early lead when he scored with his trademark left-footed shot.
Diego Gómez, his Paraguayan teammate, set up the opportunity with a brilliant solo run.
Suárez completed the feat with a precise assist on Robert Taylor’s dagger in the 63rd minute, moving Inter Miami to the CCC quarterfinals (held in early April) to face either Liga MX powerhouse CF Monterrey or defending MLS Supporters’ Shield winners FC Cincinnati.
The lone snag for Inter Miami was that Nashville scored a consolation goal in the 93rd minute thanks to a tap-in goal from Sam Surridge after Shaq Moore’s grass-cutting pass.

Along with No. 1 SuperDraft choice Tyrese Spicer and Honduran international midfielder Deybi Flores, the 33-year-old former Irish international is Toronto’s third offseason addition.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kevin to the Toronto FC family,” head coach John Herdman said in a release. “Kevin’s experience will be a welcome addition to TFC’s back line. He’s here to help rebuild the club and is hungry for success.”
