Milan travelled to Croatia to take on Dinamo Zagreb and it was just a trip to remember as the Rossoneri smashed four past their hosts.
Goals from Matteo Gabbia, Rafael Leao, Olivier Giroud from the spot and an own goal by Robert Ljubicic gave the Italian champions a resounding victory over their opponents.
The Stefano Pioli led side went into the tie knowing that only a victory will place them at advantage over their qualification seeking rivals going into the last match-day and they did just what they needed to do on the night.
The four nil victory also means that Milan for only the fourth time in their history have now scored four times away from home in the Champions League with the last being against Fenerbahce in 2005.
They host Salzburg who are their direct rivals for a spot in the knockouts next week at the San Siro.
Meanwhile…
The same story could not be said of the other Italian team in action on the night.
Juventus were undone by a brilliant Benfica side in Lisbon as they conceded four times away from home.

The Bianconeri needed to secure maximum points at least to retain a slight hope of progression going into the last match day.
However, their hopes were as good as dashed in the first half where Benfica dominated and won 3-1.
They did put up a late fight and managed to pull two gold back but it was not enough to salvage anything from the game.
Juventus are now officially eliminated from the 2022-2023 UEFA Champions League while also running the risk of not qualifying for the Europa League by virtue of a possible third place finish.
This ouster is Juve’s first in the group stages since they failed to make it to the knockouts in the 2013/2014 season.
