MLS: Edelman Joins St. Louis City SC In Blockbuster Trade
St. Louis CITY SC has officially completed the signing of 22-year-old midfielder Daniel Edelman from the New York Red Bulls.

To secure the transfer, St. Louis will pay $500,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money (GAM) and $200,000 in 2027 GAM.

The deal includes an extra $150,000 in performance-based incentives, and New York will retain a sell-on percentage for any future transactions involving the player.
“We thank Daniel for his contributions to our club and wish him the best in the next chapter of his career,” said RBNY head of sport Julian de Guzman.
“He has represented our club with the utmost professionalism and dedication, and we appreciate everything he has done for the organization.”
After signing as a homegrown talent prior to the 2022 campaign, Edelman became a fixture for the Red Bulls, tallying three goals and two assists across 118 matches.

He played a vital role in the club’s 2024 run to the MLS Cup final. On the world stage, he served as the U.S. captain during the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
“Daniel is a ball-winning, high-intensity midfielder whose addition will bring even more competition to our midfield group,” said St. Louis sporting director Corey Wray.
“He has played significant MLS minutes despite his young age and has shown maturity in his performances. We believe he can continue to develop and take another step at this level. We are looking forward to welcoming him to St. Louis as we continue to build out our roster with talented players.”
