MLS hierarchy chose Sunday’s match for the new, independent “Sunday Night Soccer” broadcast on Apple TV in an effort to increase interest in the league.
With their MLS debut last week sandwiched between the two legs of the CONCACAF Champions Cup first round, Inter Miami has had a hectic start to the season.
Messi started every one of those games, but the team decided to bench the 37-year-old for the fourth game in 12 days. However, the talismanic forward is expected to play on Thursday when Inter Miami host Jamaican club Cavalier in the opening leg of their two-round match, returning to CONCACAF competition.
