LA Galaxy are reportedly finalizing a deal to sign marquee free agent Justin Haak, as first reported by The Athletic on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old enters the market following a standout 2025 breakout season with New York City FC, where he started all 34 matches and provided one goal and four assists.



LA Galaxy are in need of a versatile defensive, Haak has amassed 81 career appearances with NYCFC, showcasing a unique ability to excel as both a holding midfielder and a center-back.

His arrival signals a significant defensive overhaul for Los Angeles, coming just ten days after the Galaxy acquired All-Star defender Jakob Glesnes from the Philadelphia Union.

By securing one of the most coveted domestic free agents, the Galaxy are aggressively fortifying their spine for the 2026 campaign.

In other news, D.C. United is adding championship pedigree to its goal with the signing of Sean Johnson.

On Tuesday, the club confirmed a multi-year deal for the 36-year-old, whose career spans over 400 MLS matches.

Johnson moves to D.C. after three years in Toronto, carrying the momentum of his 2021 MLS Cup victory with New York City FC.
