Luis Suarez continued his stellar scoring streak in a commanding 4-1 victory, showing no signs of slowing down for Gerardo Martinez’s team.

Miami’s first goal came from the 37-year-old former Barcelona striker in the 25th minute when his drive sailed into the net of the defenceless Tobias Salquist but was parried aside by Chicago keeper Chris Brady.

A minute after the half, Suarez was on target himself, beating Brady with a low left-foot shot that went into the near post following a clever exchange with Diego Gomez. After Jordi Alba, his old Barcelona teammate, sent a low ball into the box, the seasoned striker finished close to goal to make it 3-0.

In the 82nd minute, Giorgios Koutsias gave Chicago a goal back, but Leonardo Campana’s break down the right and easy pass to replacement Robert Taylor, the Finnish winger, sealed the victory for Miami.

Elsewhere, Columbus Crew, fresh from their 2024 Leagues Cup victory, appear well-positioned to join Inter Miami in the MLS post-season playoffs, having defeated New York City 4-2 thanks to two goals in stoppage time.

Mounsef Bakrar appeared to have given NYCFC a point in the 86th minute when he completed a quick counter-attack to make the score 2-2.

However, the Crew, who are currently third in the East, led 4-2 when DeJuan Jones took advantage of some clumsy New York defending in the third minute of stoppage time. Jacen Russell-Rowe then added another goal.

In the last high profile game of the Eastern conference, FC Cincinnati were without the services of Argentina’s Luciano Acosta. However, they remained a spot above Columbus Crew courtesy of a an emphatic 4-1 win over CF Montreal with another Argentine, Luca Orellano, bagging a brace.

Orellano scored a fantastic goal from inside his own half in the 57th minute to make it 3-0.
