Following the game, which Inter Miami won on penalty kicks, Messi underwent tests on his right leg due to discomfort.
While his return timeline is currently unknown, it’s improbable he’ll play in Miami’s upcoming Leagues Cup match against UNAM Pumas this Wednesday.
Inter Miami announced that Lionel Messi’s availability for future matches hinges on his response to ongoing medical treatment.
The talismanic forward sustained the injury early in Saturday’s game, visibly expressing his frustration by slapping the ground after a fall within the first ten minutes.

He then slowly made his way to the Inter Miami bench before sitting on the field. After trainers attended to his upper right thigh for a few minutes, he was substituted by Federico Redondo in the 11th minute and immediately headed to the locker room.
Despite the apparent discomfort, Miami coach Javier Mascherano stated post-game that Messi was not experiencing any pain.
