Inter Miami (10-3-5, 35 points), sitting in fifth place, is also in strong form, riding a two-game winning streak following their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Inter Miami have historically had the upper hand in this matchup, winning the last three encounters and four of the past six, including a dramatic penalty-kick victory in the 2023 Leagues Cup final.
Nashville last defeated Miami on May 17, 2023, securing their most recent win in Fort Lauderdale on Sept. 22, 2021. This match features the two leading scorers in MLS: Sam Surridge of Nashville with 16 goals, and Lionel Messi of Miami with 14 goals.
“It’s definitely a bigger game,” Surridge said this week about facing Miami. “Philly on Saturday was a massive game. I think that was probably our biggest game this season, and we’ve come away winners of it, and I think we can definitely now take that into Miami.”

Lionel Messi set a new Major League Soccer record this week, becoming the first player in history to score at least two goals in four straight regular-season games.
This achievement came after he netted a brace in Inter Miami’s 2-1 victory against New England on Wednesday. “Obviously Leo is a special player. For me, he is the best player that has played this sport in history,” Miami coach Javier Mascherano said after the game.
“So it’s unbelievable because how he continues doing things that maybe many, many years ago we thought that maybe we couldn’t see at this stage, no?”
