The deal secures the Dallas native through June 2027, with club options extending into the 2028-29 MLS season.

Starnes enters the professional ranks following a standout 2025 senior season at Southern Methodist University (SMU). As captain, he led the Mustangs to their inaugural ACC title, earning the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player award.

His dominant performance also garnered Second Team All-American honors and a spot as a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, college soccer’s most prestigious individual prize.

Prior to transferring to SMU, Starnes spent three seasons at Furman University. During his 45 appearances with the Paladins, he contributed six goals and seven assists while earning two selections to the All-Southern Conference team.

In other news, FC Cincinnati announced on Monday that they have signed 16-year-old midfielder Ademar Chávez to a homegrown contract. The deal secures the young talent through the end of 2029, with a club option to extend his stay into 2030.

Chávez arrived at the FC Cincinnati Academy in 2024 after previously being part of the LAFC system. He made a strong impression last season with the club’s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, FC Cincinnati 2, where he recorded two goals across 14 matches.

As a homegrown signing, he represents the latest academy prospect to transition into the senior first-team roster.
