Moises caicedos awful debut is an ordinarily absurd end to transfer saga

Poor Moises Caicedo. After a long summer of uncertainty he finally is a Chelsea player – but he didn’t get to make his debut from the start today. Fans were unhappy that Mauricio Pochettino didn’t pick him.

Despite having been the one explaining that Caicedo physically and mentally wasn’t ready for this game, Pochettino was then to bring him on in the second half.
It went about as badly as you could imagine. Caicedo looked totally off the pace, and made mistakes both in and out of possession in his short time on the pitch.

But in the end the fact that Robert Sanchez was able to block it didn’t do Caicedo any favours. Moments later he was in a similar position, and this time the Ecuador star brought down his opposite number, conceding a penalty to seal the game for West Ham.

Of course the only way is up, but this was a low bar to start.
It’s just typical football for you – the longer you wait for a transfer, the more expensive it is… the more sure they’ll drop a stinker.
