Carlo Ancelotti won’t be staying beyond the end of the season despite still having a year left on his two years deal with Real Madrid which he signed back in December 2023. Both parties have now reportedly reached a verbal agreement for an amicable departure after a tough season pending official formalities with Los Blancos expected to make an official announcement before the end of the current campaign.

More Details

Real Madrid have endured a torrid, turbulent campaign. Injuries to key players at the beginning of the season didn’t help matters. Two final loss to Barcelona and also an abysmal performance in El Classico, UCL exit and unfavorable results in the league has seen the club contemplate key changes which includes the need to bring in a new manager as the club gets closer to partying ways with veteran manager Carlo Ancelotti who returned for a second spell in the summer of 2021 which has seen him win everything with the club in an historic fashion.

According to recent reports from Sky Sports, Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid have reportedly reached a verbal agreement regarding his departure from the club. This development suggests that the Italian manager’s time at the helm of the Spanish giants is drawing to a close.

While the specifics of the agreement remain undisclosed, this news fuels speculation about Ancelotti’s next destination with strong links to the Brazilian national team coaching position. An official announcement from Real Madrid regarding Ancelotti’s exit is anticipated before the end of the current season.

Prior to this development, there were rumors that the players were no longer convinced about Ancelotti’s tactics, falling out of faith with his methods.

Despite Carlo Ancelotti’s enduring popularity and reputation for fostering a calm and respectful atmosphere within the Real Madrid dressing room, his personal touch has ultimately proven insufficient to compensate for the team’s discernible lack of a clear footballing identity on the pitch this season.

While his renowned man-management skills continue to garner respect among the players, doubts have reportedly surfaced regarding his tactical acumen. Ancelotti, typically lauded for tailoring his system to the strengths of his squad, he has seemingly struggled to find the optimal balance this campaign.

The Real Madrid squad has reportedly felt disjointed and his persistent faith in players who are perceived to be underperforming has generated unease within the team. Consequently, as the team’s results have waned, so too has the players’ conviction in his strategic vision.

Florentino Perez’s prime target to replace the Italian is former player and current head coach of Bayer Leverkusen Xabi Alonso but they still have to negotiate his exit with the German giants with the club willing to let him leave within the right premises.
