More Misery For Arne Slot Ahead Of EFL Cup Final
Written By Albert Echatah
Liverpool gaffer Arne Slot has acknowledged that he would be “surprised” to see Trent Alexander-Arnold play in Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Newcastle United.
More Details
During the second half of their Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain this evening, the right-back was substituted out due to what seemed to be an uncomfortable ankle twist that caused him some agony.

After the game entered extra time, Ibrahima Konate also had to be substituted since he had been taken down twice after trying to continue. After a demanding 120 minutes at Anfield today, Slot and the Liverpool team have just four days to get ready for the big event at Wembley.
During his post-match press conference following the penalty shootout loss, Slot stated that Konate is a slight doubt and Alexander-Arnold will not be attending the final this weekend.
Slot promptly provided an update on Alexander-Arnold’s status, implying that if a decision is made so quickly after the final whistle, it might not be good.
“Konate was just tired, but with Trent, I’d be surprised if he played on Sunday.” Slot disclosed, virtually excluding the 26-year-old from the match against Newcastle at Wembley.

Although there has been some improvement in the news regarding Konate, it is still unknown how this intense night has affected any of the Liverpool players, particularly the Frenchman who was out of commission before being replaced on minute 111.
Jarell Quansah, who was brought in for tonight’s second leg, is expected to start for Liverpool at right-back since Alexander-Arnold is expected to miss out.
Due to Conor Bradley’s and Joe Gomez’s injuries, which will prevent them from playing over the weekend, it may be a makeshift match on that team. Additionally, Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon is suspended for the championship game.
