Mosimane To Battle Guardiola, Conte, Tuchel, Others For IFFHS Coach Of The Year

Al Ahly head coach, Pitso Mosimane has been nominated for the 2021 International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) Manager of the Year Award.

After a great start to his journey with the Red Devils, which kicked-off with him winning the CAF Champions League and Egypt Cup in the final stretch of 2020. Mosimane continued his dominance the following year.
The South African guided Al Ahly to a third-place finish in the Club World Cup after beating South American champions Palmeiras in the third-place decider.

Later on in the year, Mosimane won the CAF Super Cup and his second consecutive CAF Champions League in a span of three months. During their continental journey, the Reds conceded just six goals and scored 26 goals in 13 appearances.
Despite losing the league title to arch-rivals Zamalek, Mosimane’s team was still the highest scoring side in the Egyptian Premier League with 72 goals.
These achievements earned him a nomination for the IFFHS Manager of the Year Award for 2021 alongside compatriot Manqoba Mngqithi, head coach of Sundowns, and current Al Masry head coach Moeni Chaabani.
Mosimane will be competing with the likes of UEFA Champions League champion Thomas Tuchel, Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, La Liga champion Diego Pablo Simeone and former Egypt national team manager Javier Aguirre.

Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy has been nominated for the 2021 International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) Goalkeeper of the Year Award.
El-Shennawy has once again had a phenomenal year with both club and country. The 32-year-old kicked-off 2021 by guiding Al Ahly to a third-place finish in the Club World Cup, having saved two penalties in the third-place playoff against Palmeiras.

He then went on to win the CAF Super Cup, his second consecutive CAF Champions League where he conceded just six goals in 12 appearances.
On the international stage, he represented Egypt in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and helped the Pharaohs reach the quarterfinal where they lost to eventual champions Brazil 1-0.
El-Shennawy was by far the best player of the Egypt national team during the tournament, having made his fair share of crucial saves in each of the four encounters.
Overall, El-Shennawy kept 32 clean sheets with club and country in 2021, earning him a nomination for the IFFHS Goalkeeper of the Year Award.

He will compete with five-time winner Manuel Neuer, as well as the Euro 2020 winner Gianluigi Donnarumma, Chelsea’s Édouard Mendy, Jan Oblak of Atletico de Madrid and Copa America champion Emiliano Martínez.
