Ligue 1 outfit, Olympique Lyon have announced that the duo of Moussa Demebele and Houssem Aouar have left the club following the expiration of the contract and wishes them well for the future.

More Details

At the end of his contract with Olympique Lyonnais, Lyon-born Houssem Aouar is moving on to face new challenges alongside Moussa Demebele, the club has officially confirmed.

Born on June 30, 1998, in the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon, Houssem Aouar grew up in the Tonkin neighborhood of Villeurbanne. He was in the local club, AS Tonkin, where he first showcased his dribbling skills. At the young age of 11 in 2009, he joined the youth academy of Olympique Lyonnais after spending three seasons in Villeurbanne.

Since then, the “Gone” (nickname for Lyon players) has always been known for his silky technique, game vision, and dribbling abilities. Early on, he developed qualities that allowed him to progress rapidly through the ranks, both at club level and in the national team.

In 2014, he was crowned the champion of France in the U17 category, scoring 27 goals and providing around fifteen assists. These performances did not go unnoticed and earned him call-ups to the French youth national teams.

n July 2016, just after reaching the age of majority, Houssem Aouar signed his first professional contract with his training club. A few months later, on February 16, 2017, he made his professional debut against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League. It was in the return leg against the Dutch team that he scored his first goal.

Initially limited to a few minutes per match, he particularly stood out during the 2017-2018 season, especially one evening in September 2017. In his first start in Ligue 1 against Dijon, he scored his first league goal. His performances allowed him to establish himself as a regular starter and become a key player in the Lyon squad until today.

He notably played a significant role in Lyon’s heroic campaign in the 2020 Champions League. These performances led to his inclusion in the UEFA Champions League 2019-2020 Squad of the Season. In 233 appearances in the Red & Blue shirt, the “Gone” scored 41 goals and provided 36 assists.

Meanwhile…

Paris Saint-Germain have made a step forward in their pursuit of former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann to replace Christophe Galtier as manager after the German turned down the opportunity to manage Chelsea and was ruled out of contention to take charge of Tottenham.

And Gianluca Di Marzio report that ‘positive contact’ has been made between the two parties as a deal edges closer.

He would be replacing Galtier, who has reportedly been fired after just one season at the Ligue 1 champions.

The 56-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Qatari-backed club upon his appointment in July 2022, but has seemingly failed to complete a single year in the French capital.

Whilst Galtier led the side to their 11th championship after a successful 2022-23 league campaign, his time at PSG was blighted by a failure to progress past the round-of-16 in the Champions League alongside an early Coupe De France exit with the club suffering the most loses in a season under his management.

Nagelsmann will now lead the new revolution at PSG after the exit of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos coupled with players that their move will be sanctioned when the transfer window opens.
