Napoli Ready To Hand Antonio Conte His Request And Give Him A Free Hand In The Transfer Market

Today, Napoli will play their last game of the 2023-24 season and thereafter, the club is expected to announce the appointment of a new manager, possibly by next week after the club president, Aurelio De Laurentiis promised that there would be a huge announcement from the club at the end of this month.

Talks reopened on Friday and progressed quickly over the last 48 hours. Napoli directors Giovanni Manna and Andrea Chiavelli have been in close contact with Conte over the last two days, offering a three-year contract worth around €6.5-7m net per season plus €2m in add-ons, keen to start a new cycle in the Campania capital, after a disastrous campaign.

They have gone through three manager this season after Luciano Spalletti decided to walk away from the club after winning the Serie A title last season, their first in over 30 years. According to Calciomercato, Napoli are keen to announce the arrival of Conte by Tuesday next week, wanting to quickly start the new project at the club.

The coach is expected to bring long-time collaborator Gabriele Oriali with him to the club. The 54-year-old will have an important role in the club’s summer transfer market strategy and the hope is that he’ll be able to convince some top players not to leave.

Although the exit of Victor Osimhen and Piotr Zielinski is all but confirmed at this point. But the club will be hoping to keep Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and possibly their captain, Giovanni Di Lorenzo who reportedly handed in a transfer request recent.

Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku will be the first name on his transfer list, just like he did when he just joined Chelsea and the player should be readily available as he won’t be signed permanently by Roma. The Partenopei will use the proceeds from the sales of Osimhen to fund their transfer operations.

Italy international Leonardo Bonucci has announced his retirement at the age of 37 at Fenerbahce. ‘I want to finish my career with a cup.’ The defender joined Fenerbahce in the January transfer window following an ill-fated transfer to Union Berlin last summer.

He had hoped to do enough this season to earn himself a place in the EURO 2024 squad, but when Luciano Spalletti left him out of the preliminary list, it was time to hang up his boots. “It was a pleasure for me to be a part of this wonderful family,” Bonucci told the official Fenerbahce website.

Bonucci turned 37 on May 1 and spent most of his career at Juventus from 2010 to 2023, save for a brief spell at Milan in the 2017-18 campaign. His other clubs were Inter, Treviso, Pisa, Genoa and Bari. The central defender also amassed 121 senior caps for Italy, scoring eight goals and winning the EURO 2020 tournament.
