The 26 year old is David Moyes’ first summer signing but would have to fight for his place in the team as the likes of Kurt Zouma, Craig Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop will make it difficult for him to break into the team.

David Moyes has long been in search of a left footed centre back and Aguerd fits the bill perfectly.

“I am delighted to welcome Nayef to West Ham United. We have tracked his progress for some time and I’m very pleased that we have been able to complete the signing. He’s a great addition that will add to our defensive options. Moyes told the club website.

“I have been really impressed with Nayef’s character and attitude during our discussions. He has a great desire to improve and be successful, and I am sure he will fit in very well to the environment we have at Rush Green (training ground).”

The 25 time capped Moroccan international first moved to Europe in 2018 when he joined Dijon FC before leaving for Stade Rennes in 2020 after strings of impressive performances.

“I was really excited when I heard about West Ham United’s interest,” said the player. “When I heard about it, I knew I needed to go to the Premier League, because it’s a dream for every player. West Ham is a historic club. I talked with the manager and he showed me that he was very interested, so it was easy to choose to come to West Ham.” He said during his first interview.

Aguerd will wear the number 27 shirt at West Ham United and will hope to replicate the form that made the Hammers cough out £30 million for him.

Arsenal may need to first offload £72 million flop Nicolas Pepe before they can officially enter into negotiations for Brazilian winger Raphina.

Pepe has failed to live up to expectations at the emirates since his 2019 arrival from Lille and now proves difficult for Arsenal to sell due to his wage demands.

The 26 year old earns £140,000 a week at Arsenal and has two years left on his contract.

Superdeporte reports that Sevilla has made contact with Arsenal for the left footed attacker but nothing concrete yet.

Arsenal are waiting in the wings for Leeds United winger Raphina who is also on the radar of Barcelona and Tottenham.

The Brazilian winger according to Fabrizio Romano will cost the Gunners up to £75m should they choose to pursue a deal for him.
