NCACA Champs Wrap: Jackson, Miller-Uibo, Others Triumph In Track Event

Shericka Jackson, Shaunae Miller-Uibo were all winners in the 100m and 400m as the USA dominate alot of races.

Shericka Jackson of Jamaica won gold in the women’s 100m final at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Open in Sport Complex, Freeport, Bahamas.

Celera Barnes of the United States ran 11.10s for silver while Natasha Morrison of Jamaica made it a Jamaican 1-3, taking third in 11.10s as well.

Ackeem Blake of Jamaica won gold in the men’s 100m final at the NACAC Championships.

He clocked 9.98s (-0.8) to take the win ahead of Kyree King of USA in 10.08s for second while Brandon Carnes was third in 10.12s.

Andrew Hudson of Jamaica stormed to a big Personal Best (PB) of 19.87s (0.6) to win the men’s 200m final, ahead of Kyree King of America who ran 20.00s to take second while Josephus Lyles of the USA finished third in 20.18s.

Brittany Brown of America won gold in the women’s 200m final running 22.35s ahead of Tynia Gaither of Bahamas who clocked 22.41s. A’Keyla Mitchell of America got third d in 22.53s.

Alaysha Johnson of America powered through to win the 110mh in 12.62s (-0.8), warding off stiff opposition from Megan Tapper Jamaica who finished second in 12.68s while Devyne Charlton of Bahamas held on for third in 12.71s.

Freddie Crittenden of America broke ground to a big PB of 13.00s (0.3) to win the men’s 110mH, making him the third fastest man in the world this year.

His teammate Jamal Britt ran 13.08 (PB) for second while Orlando Bennett of Jamaica was third in 13.17s.

Meanwhile…

Shaunae Miller-Uibo won the women’s 400m final at the NACAC Championships in front of a home crowd in Bahamas with a time of 49.40s.

Sada Williams of Barbados came through to take 2nd in 49.86s while Stephenie Ann-McPherson of Jamaica got Bronze with 50.36s.

Christopher Taylor of Jamaica powered to a new Personal Best (PB) of 44.63 to win the men’s 400m final.

His compatriot Nathon Allen was second in 45.04s, just edging Bryce Deadmon of America who finished 3rd in 45.05s.

Kyron McMaster of Australia ran a big Season’s Best (SB) of 47.34s to win the men’s 400mH title.

He finished ahead of a strong Khallifah Rosser of America, second in 47.59s while another America CJ Allen finished third in 48.23s.

Ajee Wilson of America emerged women’s 800m NACAC Champion.

In a very close battle with her teammate Allie Wilson came out on top with 1:58.47, edging the latter who came second in 1:58.48. Jamaica’s Adelle Tracey won Bronze with 1:59.54.

Jonah Koech of America won the men’s 800m final in 1:45.87 ahead of Roban Handal of Saint Vincent and Grenadines in 1:47.23 while Brannon Kidder of America finished third in 1:47.63

In the relays, with a great anchor by Jaide Stepter-Baynes, USA pulled away to win the women’s 4x400m final in 3:23.54 from Jamaica in second with 3:26.32.

The US quartet of Quincy Hall, Jaide Stepter-Baynes, Ismail Turner & Kaylin Whitney also won Gold in the mixed 4x400m, running 3:12.05.

They pulled clear on the final leg as Jamaica came second in 3:14.08 and Cuba third in 3:20.45.

USA also dominated the men’s 4x400m final, running 3:01.79 for a clear and thorough win over the Jamaican team who came second in 3:05.47. Bahamas was third in 3:06.21.

USA won gold in the women’s 4x100m final in 42.35s, exerting dominance over the rest of the field as Bahamas finished very strongly to take Silver in 43.34s while Jamaica got Bronze in 43.39s.

USA closed the NACAC Championships, winning Gold in the men’s 4x100m with a time of 38.29s ahead of Trinidad and Tobago in 38.93s, same as Jamaica in third but separated by 0.002s.
